Will She, Won’t She? WSJ readers don’t know

HOW better to get through a slow news three-day weekend than take a poll?

The Wall Street Journal figured why not ask readers if they think Sarah Palin will run for president.

Seems that the first three thousand respondents are almost evenly divided: 52 percent say yes, 48 percent say no.

Anybody who wants to can weigh in here:

Vote early and often. It’s free.

  • CougInPortland:

I still find it unproductive, Joe, to vote in any poll because we already know how the bots and/or her minions skew them. I DARE her to run. The house of cards will fall and she knows it.

  • MissSunshine:

I say “Yes” – the “title” of “presidential candidate” will be too irresistible.

(Of course she will quit the minute it gets hard, or she faces a prepared opponent.)

  • carollt:

Of course she will run; She’s the Queen. Her, oh I mean, Bristol’s book signing didn’t the bring the throngs of people she had hoped (kudos to the national media for not showing up). So, what is a Queen to do? Michele is getting all the buzz these days. She has to announce because the clock has run down and it is the only way to put this game into overtime.

Perhaps she is having the bus wrapped with Palin for President and other nonsense. I am sure the website is ready to go. But not before she wrings every last cent from suckers willing to give SarahPac $100.00 for her propaganda film.

  • Sally:

I just shook my head at Bristol’s “all these women have stolen my mother’s look.” Huh? Bachmann has been around far longer than Sarah. I think Sarah stole HER look!

  • VictoriaJ:

Is there a box that says Palin is a shiny object to keep people from focusing on
the fact that republican governors and conservative statehouses are destroying
women’s reproductive rights, the public school system and any semblance of social
safety nets they can get there hands on so that corporations can simply move in
—barely feeding the serfs that will be left?

  • Sally:

You are so right! I’m beginning to see a pattern. The first two years of OBama’s Presidency were wasted by the GOP saying “NO, Damn IT!” to every little thing, thus diverting our attention from the goals you have listed. THEN, they convinced enough voters that they really have the best interests of the country at heart, unlike that black man who may or may not be American/legal/Muslim/anti-white/educated/intelligent/commie/fascist/black. Now the new GOP majorities and Governors are acting like kids in the candy store with a $20 bill: what rights can we grab first? Meanwhile, the media focuses on Bachmann and Palin, allowing the GOP to run their ponzi scheme and ruin this country.

  • fromthediagonal:

VictoriaJ, your assessment is correct, that part will be carefully hidden and we shall lose even more because of it.

  • CDNpotpourri:

It’s rather unsettling that Palin’s gotten this far on a failed Vice Presidential candidacy. If she puts her hat in the ring for 2012, she knows full well that she’ll lose both the Republican nomination as well as the general election. But imagine who, and what, Palin can exploit with “former Presidential candidate” on her resume.

Will she, won’t she? Palin won’t. The scrutiny of her candidacy today is nothing what she’ll be up against if she runs, and that irritates her. She knows she’ll have to sacrifice too much – more than she’s willing to admit and $$$ is the first thing that comes to mind here. I think one can easily predict that she’ll announce she’s chosen not to run because of family, claiming they’ve been burdened enough with the whole biased agenda against her. She’ll also target blame at those who are not accepting of an unconventional candidate and an unconventional way of doing things. And finally, she’ll tout that one needs no title to make a difference to bring the US nation back on track. Lord love a duck…

  • nora:

Female politicians have been wearing red blazers forever – Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, Olympia Snow – it is the expected garb of the female politician like the red tie was for the Bushies.

  • lilybart:

That is exactly how I feel. As my daughter would say, “go nuts”, run for President and see how far a cross and some lip gloss will get you.

  • lilybart:

    Two things:
    1) Miss Wasilla did not invent the Red Jacket for a female politico.
    2) No one WITH style would copy her style. The RNC style, yes. Hers? No.

  • lilybart:

I would prefer that she runs and gets crushed. Otherwise she will be “helping” any teabagger congressional candidates so she can feed off their crowds and it would be worse. UNLESS, they don’t want her there of course. hhmmmm.

  • mudmanor:

Lest we forget, also destroying the right to vote.

  • Melly:

I think she won’t run, but I’m glad she can now be labeled Ditherer in addition to Quitter. She’s just blinkin’ left and right. Hasn’t the Heavenly Creator given a sign yet???

  • Tservo:

Will Palin get off the fence before those who adore her get tired of her coy game of ‘wait, wait- I’m not telling you!’?
Check out C4P- some there have figured out she is indeed running by not declaring her candidacy, not raising money, and not hiring staff- and woe to anyone who questions such logic!

Palin will do whatever she needs to do to stay relevant. I contend she will start a campaign by October. She will work hard to win one primary, which she will lost.
Then there will be a faux crisis at home, involving Trig’s care. Somehow Sarah will blame the intrusive media for what happened, and she will pull out of the race, because she is such a good mother- her reasoning.
This scenario will enable Sarah to keep her devoted followers- they love the motherhood meme- keep her politically relevant so she can snipe from the side lines, and it also lets her keep the PAC cash- most important!

  • Ratfishtim:

If she were running, she’d have revved up her bus for the July 4th and taken it to the “heartland.” Oh I forgot, she has “jury duty” in Alaska. No wait, that was last month- and Alaska jury duty is one full month at a time. Hmmm…what gives? (ps Now can you believe she won the Miss Wasilla Tease contest 4 years in a row?)

    Maybe this?

Light crowd in Houston for Palin film peek

    http://www.upi.com/Entertainment_News/Movies/2011/07/02/Light-crowd-in-Houston-for-Palin-film-peek/UPI-33021309614033/

HOUSTON, July 2 (UPI) — A Houston film critic said the light turnout at a sneak preview of the Sarah Palin documentary could be attributed to the location and timing of the screening.

………or maybe it was the subject matter.

  • pasajo:

Of course she will run, but have to quit early because of jury duty….

  • Kimberly:

Joe your publisher might want to push up the release of your book. By September Palin will obsolete.

LMAO only one reply to this call of desperation.

We recommend that you pre-order your tickets for July 15th. There are five screenings that day: 10:30am, 1:25pm, 4:20pm, 7:15pm, 10:10pm. If possible, we recommend that you attend the 10:30 am and the 1:25 pm screenings.

I do believe the most dedicated BOTS are awakening….or they are broke.

  • sharon:

    who cares?

  • omomma:

Sarah hasn’t stolen anyone’s look, but everyone wishes she had. It’s hard to imagine any other woman politician who has appeared in public in: a) white see through blouse with black underwear, fake boobs flying; b) take-out-the-trash clothes at a high snoot horse race; c) a black office ensemble at a garden party luncheon; d) same said ensemble later in the day, now seen to be a size or so too big, wrinkled and smeared with food, unmatched jacket and skirt; e) wearing a pair of shoes 2 to 3 sizes too big; d) hot and sweaty in a wrinkled shirt unbuttoned down to here; f) low-rider jeans with a sparkly rodeo belt that featured a Catholic crucifix, flounced about in a Dutch Reformed Church village in Iowa.

But none of that comes even close to the look she sported early in 2008 when she went from flat stomach to birth and delivery in only four short weeks. And managed to get God to feature that look in a letter.

  • Ottoline:

    Bingo!

  • Tewise:

You are right, red is the power color for anyone that is trying to make a strong statement. But alas you have to have something in you (other than a fire in the belly) to make it work. But sadly some people are clueless. That crazy heifer is not running, nor does she want to run.

I am afraid how much her and the other crazy loon ( Bachmann) is going to set success back for women in general. I mean really how can we set a good precedent with these two in the lime light. I still blame McCain for unleashing the hound of hell on us then just setting her free with out showing us any due regard.

  • Ottoline:

VictoriaJ — You are so right. And when Palin no longer serves that purpose, we have Bachmann in the wings. And the NYTimes failing to connect the dots between Dominionist honcho Paxton and Trig’s middle name (and the McCain/Vicky Iiseman dots). And failing us on the election hoax of the century. Among MANY other lapses. We are in very deep trouble. Hurry up, Joe.

  • Star:

    Yep~ $arah PayMe will run…

  • laprofesora:

She can’t possibly announce now, because there’s no way she has the fortitude to stick with something for longer than a few months. She wants to announce but she doesn’t dare. It must be hell inside her brain.

  • SusanC:

No, she won’t run, but she’ll drag it out as long as possible in order to get the attention she needs and keep her brand fresh. When she announces she’s not running–say on Christmas Eve, 2011–it will be for some high-sounding but totally phony reason.

  • Kimberly:

Good God how many threads can they make in one day and not be embarrassed? And, Palin wants you to not only donate an extra $100 for the DVD she wants you to go watch it….TWICE or more?

Bring Someone Who Isn’t a Supporter to the Highlands Ranch, Colorado Screening Near Denver on July 15/Open Thread

I think we have two goals for July 15th:

    1) Get as many people to see The Undefeated as possible when it debuts in select AMC theaters nationwide who aren’t Palin supporters.

    2) Make sure that most of the screenings will be full. The ones held early in the morning will be the tougher ones to fill. So if it’s possible for you, attend an earlier screening of the movie.

  • diz:

She can’t believe she could actually win when she sees the poll results of her devisive history yet she craves the glory and adulation of her minions so she may be tempted. It does look like she has firmed up her excuse for ‘not running’. I can hear her little speech already, “I so wanted to save the country for you but the dangers to me and my family have become all too…..”. Based on the WSJ comments to the poll, she will have quite a sympathetic flock. So she ends up with her version of a victory, “I coulda been a contenda but…yada yada yada..” and assures herself another four years of pedaling her wares after 2012. My hope is that it is the Bachmann or Romney contingent that takes her down rather than the left to avoid offering any credence to her litany of complaints that she was bushwhacked by liberals.

  • Julian:

    Inside what?!

  • Julian:

Couldn’t agree more. *!#$%?* I’m so sick of this trollop.

  • Sue:

I predict we won’t hear a peep out of Sarah until her “jury duty” is done at the end of July. Meanwhile, Bristol will be her mouthpiece. She’s almost got the script down (“I have thick skin!”; “I’m a victim!”; “I have a fire in my belly!”) but she strays once in a while. I think Sarah will be keeping herself busy trying to silence the Johnstons, Shailey, and the mysterious “Fred”. Hopefully his book made it to the publisher’s in time.

  • Sue:

I also would prefer she run. There are people who are afraid of what Sarah will do to them if they expose her secrets, but some are more afraid of what she would do to this country as president.

  • Sue:

At least Trump was somewhat honest when he decided not to run. Ya, I coulda beat Obama, but I’d rather take the $65M to do “The Apprentice”.

It turns out the $65M was a lie.

  • KatzKids:

I think she’ll run. Wouldn’t vote in a poll though – an exercise in futility. She believes she’s invincible, and if she was able to make so many millions by being a failed VP candidate, she envisions even more millions by being a Prez candidate. I hope she does run. The crowds won’t show up for her, she won’t get hordes of adoring fans, she’ll be even more ridiculed than she is now, her secrets will be out of the closet for all to see and hopefully she’ll slink back to Alaska, never to return. Of course, I’m hoping her/his criminal dealings are investigated & charged & that there are striped suits waiting for both her and Toad. That’s wishful thinking of course, and will never happen, but the slinking surely will.

  • Bretta:

Her’s such a perfessional, also, too, wearing sweats to the office as gubner.

I guess that’s how she kept such a flat belly during her month long pregnancy.

The remarks at the WSJ poll are a scream! $arah’s people are not only seriously deluded but massively uninformed.

  • Lynne:

    A “light” turnout in Houston…50 people…yup, light.

  • newmeximan:

$atah will run, until a staged attempt on her life by ‘liberals’ will force her to remove herself from the race.

    Envision the Alaska resignation 2.0.

On the record, the attempt will be unwound, and traced back to her staff. And THAT will be the end of $arah.

  • Bretta:

Ponzi scheme is on the right track – whatever it’s called, the only point for $arah Palin is to get money sent to $arahPAC.

I wonder why her first quarter filing hasn’t been done to the FEC?

  • mary b:

It HAS been mostly people on the right who tell the truth about $arah. (The truth to $arah is a take-down).
Not a lot of people on the left have smacked her down, with the exception of a very few. It has been republicans, mostly the one’s who $arah had used and then threw under the Bus when she didn’t need them anymore. But in her warped view of reality, it HAD to be the left!! $he cannot deal with the truth!!
Just like when she claims that Liberals wanted her to abort Tri-G. Hate to tell you $arah, none of us ever heard of you before McCain plucked you from the wilderness. You also claim no one knew you were pregnant!! (That part I agree with, because you were NOT pregnant!!) So $arah & Todd, how do you justify THAT lie??

Run, $arah, run!! Your web of lies are so easily proven lies! I’d love to see you answer questions from your fellow GOPer’s!! They’ll do a better job than the MSM!!

  • MissSunshine:

“Obsolete”? I don’t think so! She will do anything to stay in the spotlight, bet on it.

  • mea:

look at her face in the Paul Revere Gaffe video. she’s too weird.
watch the first few moments of her speech in Alabama before she headed to Birmingham; she says nothing!
no, she won’t run for President. i have money on it.

  • Bretta:

The Alaska Dispatch proved Sarah Palin lied about jury duty.
The court made it clear that she was not called up.
